China's official news service says an overloaded fishing boat has sunk in an eastern river, killing 15. Xinhua News Agency says the boat was ferrying 44 people across the Sanjiang River in Jiangxi when it sank on Friday evening. The boat had a capacity to carry only 10 people. Twenty-nine onboard were rescued. Xinhua said all the passengers were employed by private businessmen to cross the river

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale on Wednesday jolted the Qingchuan County in China's southwestern Sichuan province, the National Seismic Network reported. The quake occurred at 2:53 am on Wednesday.The epicentre of the earthquake was located around 15 km below the earth's surface, China Earthquake Administration said on its website. There were no immediate reports of casualties
